AUTHORITIES IN KING CITY ARE INVESTIGATING A RASH OF SHOOTINGS THAT OCCURRED IN THE CITY OVER THE PAST SEVERAL DAYS.    THE FIRST SHOOTING OCCURRED TUESDAY NIGHT WHEN A TEEN WAS SHOT AT A GAS STATION WITH A FRIEND.  HE WAS TREATED FOR HIS WOUNDS AND RELEASED.  THEN A 16-YEAR OLD MALE WAS SHOT WEDNESDAY AT 7:40 P.M. WHILE RIDING IN HIS BROTHER’S CAR IN THE 200-BLOCK OF FRANCISCAN WAY.   HE WAS ALSO TREATED AND RELEASED. FINALLY, YESTERDAY AT 4:40 A.M. OFFICERS RESPONDED TO THE 300-BLOCK OF ELLIS STREET AND FOUND A 27-YEAR OLD MAN SUFFERING FROM MULTIPLE GUNSHOT WOUNDS.  HE WAS AIRLIFTED TO A BAY AREA TRAUMA CENTER.  

ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION ABOUT THE RECENT GUN FIRE, IS ASKED TO CONTACT THE KING CITY POLICE DEPARTMENT.

THE CITY OF CARMEL HAS DECIDED THAT A 12-FOOT DINOSAUR SCULPTURE ON 6TH AVENUE NEEDS PERMITS.    CITY OFFICIALS ARGUE THAT THE DINOSAUR IS A POTENTIAL SAFETY HAZARD THAT MUST GO THROUGH THE REGULAR PLANNING PROCESS THAT TAKES NEIGHBOR CONCERNS INTO CONSIDERATION.   WHILE SOME NEIGHBORS CONSIDER THE DINOSAUR AN AMUSING NOVELTY, OTHERS WANT THE PLANNING AND ZONING LAWS FOLLOWED.

TODAY TO ENTER THIS “CRUSIN FOR A CAUSE EVENT”, WHICH WILL BENEFIT THE HOSPITAL’S NEO-NATAL INTENSIVE CARE UNITS FOR PREMATURE BABIES. THE FEE FOR THE CARS IS $95 AND SPECTATORS GET IN FREE.    SINCE ITS INCEPTION, THE CHERRY JUBILEE HAS RAISED OVER 2-MILLION DOLLARS TO HELP BENEFIT SALINAS VALLEY MEMORIAL HOSPITAL.

A SALINAS MAN ACCUSED OF MOLESTING HIS STEP-DAUGHTER WAS SENTENCED THIS WEEK TO SPEND 79-YEARS BEHIND BARS .   36-YEAR OLD JOSE LUNA WAS CONVICTED IN JULY ON 22-FELONY SEXUAL OFFENSES, INCLUDING UNLAWFUL ACTS WITH A MINOR.    THE ABUSE REPORTEDLY BEGAN WHEN THE GIRL WAS THIRTEEN, AND CONTINUED UNTIL SHE WAS SEVENTEEN.

W’VILLE FUGITIVE ARREST 09-12-2013 06:30 av

POLICE IN WATSONVILLE ARRESTED A WOMAN YESTERDAY FOR HARBORING A FUGITIVE.    JULIO GERONIMO WAS BEING SOUGHT NEAR A HOME ON LONE PINE AVENUE, WHEN HE WAS LOCATED INSIDE OF A RESIDENCE TALKING TO YOLANDA ESPINOSO.   GERONIMO, WHO HAD SEVERAL OUTSTANDING FELONY WARRANTS, WAS FOUND HIDING IN A SMALL CRAWL SPACE UNDER THE HOUSE, BEFORE HE WAS FORCED OUT BY OFFICERS.    BOTH WERE BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL.
