Car hits sc motel-3/2/14-1334- PMD

A CAR CRASHED INTO A SANTA CRUZ MOTEL ON SATURDAY NIGHT.  THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE SHORTLY AFTER 9 P-M, WHEN A DRIVER LOST CONTROL OF A VEHICLE AND CRASHED INTO THE BEST WESTERN MOTEL AT THE INTERSECTION OF SOQUEL DRIVE AND OCEAN STREET. 1 PERSON REPORTEDLY RECEIVED MEDICAL ATTENTION DUE TO THE WRECK.  THE CAUSE OF THE ACCIDENT IS UNDER INVESTIGATION.

WOMAN DISCHARGES GUN-3/2/14-1308- PMD

A WOMAN WAS TAKEN IN TO CUSTODY IN THE PARADISE PARK AREA NEAR SANTA CRUZ THURSDAY NIGHT. THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE ON THE 1-HUNDRED BLOCK OF KEYSTONE WAY, AT ABOUT 5 P-M WHEN A WOMAN CLAIMING TO BE SUICIDAL FIRED A PISTOL OUT OF A WINDOW. SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES EVENTUALLY PERSUADED 52 YEAR OLD LYNDA GLASSEY OUT OF THE HOME AT 7:15 WHERE SHE WAS DISARMED AND TRANSPORTED TO AN AREA HOSPITAL FOR A MENTAL HEALTH EVALUATION. GLASSEY WAS LATER ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH DISCHARGING A FIRE ARM IN PUBLIC.

ALISAL SEXL HARASSMENT-3/2/14-1238- PMD

SEXUAL HARASSMENT ALLEGATIONS WERE RELEASED AT PRESS CONFERENCE IN SALINAS THURSDAY AFTERNOON. SOURCES SAY THAT A WOMAN AT THE CONFERENCE CLAIMS TO HAVE WITNEESED 2 WOMEN BULLIED AND GROPED BY ALISAL UNION SCHOOL DISTRICT SUPERINTENDENT JOHN RAMIREZ. HOWEVER THERE IS SPECULATION THE ALLEGATIONS COULD BE RETRIBUTION FOR DISCIPLINARY ACTIONS BY THE SUPERINTENDENT. A PRIVATE INVESTIGATOR HAS BEEN HIRED BY THE DISTRICT TO EXAMINE THE CLAIMS.

RESCUED AND ARRESTED-3/2/14-1152-PMD

A WOMAN WAS RESCUED FROM ROUGH SURF AND THEN ARRESTED IN SANTA CRUZ. THE INCIDENT TOOK PLACE THURSDAY AFTERNOON NEAR LIGHT HOUSE POINT, IN THE SAME AREA THAT CLAIMED THE LIFE OF A BOOGIE BOARDER IN JANUARY. A HARBOR PATROL BOAT WITH RESCUE SWIMMERS ON BOARD MADE ITS WAY THROUGH UNUSUALLY HEAVY SURF TO A REPORTED WOMAN IN THE WATER WITHOUT A BOARD OR WETSUIT.  UPON BEING CONTACTED THE WOMAN TRIED SWIMMING AWAY FROM THE BOAT. RESCUE SWIMMERS WERE SENT IN AS SHE QUICKLY TIRED.  29 YEAR OLD AMY MAE TYLER WAS PULLED TO SAFETY AND TAKEN TO THE HARBOR, WHERE SHE WAS ARRESTED ON CHARGES OF PUBLIC INTOXICATION.

Highschl engineering comp-3/2/14-1126-PMD

THE ANNUAL MESA COMPETITION TOOK PLACE IN A U-C-S-C ENGINEERING BUILDING ON SATURDAY.   AROUND 4-HUNDRED STUDENTS FROM SANTA CRUZAND MONTEREY COUNTIES’ MIDDLE AND HIGH SCHOOLS WERE INVOLVED IN PROJECTS FOR THE MATH, ENGINEERING, and SCIENCE ACHIEVEMENT (MESA) COMPETITION. THE EVENT FEATURED CLASSIC ENGINEERING CHALLENGES, ALONG WITH SOME MORE MODERN CATEGORIES. IT IS KNOWN FOR BRINING LIKE MINDED STUDENTS TOGETHER, AS WELL AS INSTILLING INTEREST FOR THE SCIENCES IN PREVIOUSLY UNEXPOSED YOUTHS.
