Panetta Bill-1/25/21-1726-PMD

Congressman Jimmy Panetta has reintroduced the California Central Coast Conservation Act. The legislation establishes a moratorium on all new oil and gas leasing on federal public land on the central coast of California.  This is the first bill Congressman Panetta has introduced in the 117th Congress.  The bill effects new oil and gas leasing and development on over 720,000 acres of public land in Central California, primarily in Fresno, Monterey, and San Benito counties.

California is looking to change how it determines COVID-19 vaccine eligibility. The state will continue to work through inoculating residents that are 65 and older, health care workers and will prioritize first responders, food and agricultural workers, as well as teachers and school staff.

Salinas Man Guilty Rape-1/25/21-1633-PMD

A former North Salinas High School coach has been convicted of rape and sexual assault. John Fickas pled no contest to to drugging and sexually assaulting 2 students, 1 former student, and a married woman. Fickas also pled no contest to having oral sex with a 15-year-old male student in a Salinas motel. Flickas also worked as a political advisor. In February Fickas will be sentenced to over 28 years in state prison.
