MISSING CAMPER FOUND 08/07/11 9:50P.M. TDH

A COORDINATED SEARCH-EFFORT WAS CALLED OFF IN BIG SUR ON SUNDAY, AFTER THE PERSON THAT WAS MISSING WOUND UP IN POLICE CUSTODY.   FRIENDS OF THE MAN REPORTED HIM MISSING AFTER HE DISAPPEARED FROM THEIR CAMPSITE AT ANDREW MOLERA STATE PARK.   THE MONTEREY COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT PREPARED A SEARCH PARTY WITH MULTIPLE OTHER AGENCIES, BEFORE IT WAS DISCOVERED THAT THE MISSING MAN, (WHO IS IN HIS EARLY 20S) WAS IN POLICE CUSTODY IN MARINA.   HE IS BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN INTOXICATED.

GILROY ROBBERY ARREST 08/07/11 9:45p.m. TDH

A 20-YEAR-OLD MAN WAS ARRESTED IN GILROY ON SATURDAY NIGHT.   ANTONIO RODRIGUEZ, IS SUSPECTED OF ROBBING            2-PEOPLE, AND ATTEMPTING TO ROB MORE, NEAR SOME BUSINESSES ON MONTEREY ROAD.  HE WAS REPORTEDLY ARMED, AND INJURED A 15-YEAR-OLD BOY IN 1-OF THE INCIDENTS.  THE VICTIM WAS TREATED FOR SERIOUS INJURIES, AT SAINT LOUISE REGIONAL HOSPITAL.   RODRIGUEZ WAS TAKEN INTO CUSTODY; POLICE BELIEVE HE MIGHT HAVE HAD AN ACCOMPLICE.

Copper wire stolen, E.A. Hall 08/05/11 6:15p.m. TDH

Authorities in Watsonville are investigating a burglary that occurred this week, at e.a. hall middle school.  Police reported that about 2-thousand dollars worth of copper wire was taken from the school on brewington avenue.   The robbery is believed to have happened early Wednesday morning.

Stolen car recovered 08/05/11 5:30p.m. TDH

A stolen car and stolen television were recovered in Watsonville yesterday.   Officers arrived at main street and holm road at about 1 p.m., and found the stolen vehicle idling in the intersection, with the tv inside.  The suspects had fled, and were not located.   The suspects had been reported knocking on doors in the neighborhood, trying to see if residents were home.   Neighbors reported the suspicious activity to police.
