Body Found, Moss Landing 04/03/11 10:45p.m. TDH

A homicide investigation is under way in Monterey County, following the discovery of a body this Saturday in Moss Landing.  C-H-P officers responded to a call at 6:45 a.m., reporting a man underneath a car on the 1-hundred block of Struve Road.  Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies were contacted after it was discovered the man was dead, likely from gunshot wounds.   No arrests have been made in the case, and an autopsy is pending for the victim, who was identified as Fabian Pena Ruvalcaba.

Bank Bomb Scare Charges 04/03/11 10:45p.m. TDH

A man who left a suitcase in a downtown santa cruz bank on Saturday, is now facing charges of trespassing and intimidation.  The mid-day incident caused several streets near the bank of the west to be shut down, after bank employees became nervous about the suitcase and contacted police.  Grant Anderson was arrested by officers at 12:30 p.m., after positively identifying the bag as his.

Gilroy Stabbing, Arrest 04/03/11 10:45p.m. TDH

A man was arrested in Gilroy on Saturday night, after allegedly stabbing himself and another man.  Michael Pritchard was arrested after being treated at a Bay Area hospital, following an incident on the 7-hundred block of 9th Street.  Pritchard allegedly threatened the victim, before he attacked him, and then stabbed himself.  Neither of their wounds are believed to be life-threatening; Pritchard was booked into Santa Clara County Jail.

Castroville Burglary, Arrest 04/03/11 10:45p.m. TDH

A 22-year-old man was arrested in Castroville on Saturday for attempted burglary.  Monterey County Sheriff’s Deputies were called to the 11-thousand 5-hundred block of Main Street, after a resident reported someone trying to come through a window of their house.  Deputies arrested Samuel Rosales at his house, after identifying him as a possible suspect.  In addition to attempted burglary, Rosales is facing a probation violation.   He was booked into Monterey County Jail.

Salinas Firebombing/Arson 04/01/11 6:30p.m. TDH

salinas police are looking for 2-men, who are suspected of fire-bombing a house in salinas last night.  the victim heard a noise at 9:42p.m., opened her front door, and discovered that a molotov cocktail had been thrown at the door.   police report that the liquid had ignited, but the residence did not catch on fire.  no injuries were reported in the incident, which occurred on the 9-hundred block of acosta plaza.  the occupants in the house told officers that none of them belonged to a gang.
