CARMEL GAS EVAC 9/6/14-2155-PMD

A RUPTURED GAS LINE PROMPTED THE EVACUATION OF 4 CARMEL HOMES ON FRIDAY.   OFFICIALS SAY A CONTRACTOR DOING WORK ON A HOTEL NEAR HIGHWAY 1 BETWEEN 11TH AND 12TH AVENUES BROKE A 3 INCH GAS PIPELINE. NEARBY RESIDENTS WERE EVACUATED WHILE P-G and E CREWS WERE CALLED IN TO FIX THE LEAK. THE AREA WAS DECLARED SAFE AROUND 4 P-M. THE INCIDENT RAISED ALREADY HIGH TENSIONS BETWEEN CITY LEADERS AND P-G-and E WHICH ARE INVOLVED IN A LEGAL DISPUTE OVER A CARMEL HOME EXPLOSION 6 MONTHS AGO.

SC CO GANG ARRESTS 9/6/14-2135-PMD

 

 

THE Santa Cruz County Anti-Crime Team Gang Task

FORCE ARRESTED 3 WATSONVILLE MEN ON THURSDAY. SHORTLY AFTER 4 P-M OFFICERS ARRIVED AT FLODBERG PARK ON THE 2-HUNDRED BLOCK OF ALVARADO STREET TO INVESTIGATE REPORTS OF ILLEGAL ACTIVITY. UPON SEEING POLICE 3 MALES FLED, 1 SUSPECT, A JUVENILE WAS DETAINED IN THE PARK NEXT TO A DISCARDED LOADED FIREARM AND ALCOHOL CONTAINERS. THE OTHER 2 SUSPECTS WERE APPREHENDED NEARBY. 25 YEAR OLD ISAAC AVALOS, 18 YEAR OLD ANDRES TREJO-GOMEZ AND THE JUVENILE WERE ALL ARRESTED AND CHARGED WITH POSSESSION OF A LOADED FIREARM, AND GANG PARTICIPATION. THE 2 ADULTS WERE ALSO CHARGED WITH CONTRIBUTING TO THE DELINQUENCY OF A MINOR.

SEASIDE STABBING 9/6/14-1815-PMD

 

 

POLICE ARE INVESTIGATING A SATURDAY MORNING STABBING IN SEASIDE.   SHORTLY AFTER 1 A-M OFFICERS ARRIVED ON THE 12-HUNDRED BLOCK OF SAN PABLO AVENUE TO FIND A 21 YEAR OLD MALE VICTIM WITH A LIFE THREATENING WOUND TO THE NECK. THE VICTIM WAS AIR LIFTED TO A BAY AREA TRAUMA CENTER. THE SUSPECT WAS TAKEN IN TO CUSTODY AT A HOSPITAL WHERE HE WAS GETTING MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR A CUT ON HIS HAND. THE SUSPECT HAS BEEN CHARGED WITH ATTEMPTED MURDER. HIS IDENTITY IS BEING WITHHELD DURING THE INITIAL STAGE OF THE INVESTIGATION

SEASIDE OD AND ARRST 9/6/14-1940-PMD

A SEASIDE MAN WAS ARRESTED AFTER A DRUG OVERDOSE ON FRIDAY. THE INCIDENT OCCURRED AT AROUND 1 P-M WHEN OFFICERS ARRIVED AT THE MAGIC CARPET MOTEL TO REPORTS OF A DRUG OVER-DOSE.   AT THE SCENE, 1ST RESPONDERS TREATED, SEMI-CONSCIOUS, 22 YEAR OLD JON DAKOTA FARRALD. A HYPODERMIC NEEDLE FOUND NEXT TO FARRALD LED TO A SEARCH OF HIS BELONGINGS.  OFFICERS UNCOVERED A STOLEN 9MM GLOCK, A LOADED 357 MAGNUM, AN OUNCE OF HEROIN, AND A HALF OUNCE OF CRYSTAL METHAMPHETAMINE. FARRALD WAS ARRESTED AND BOOKED INTO MONTEREY COUNTY JAIL.

hit and run victim DIES-9/6/14-2006-PMD

THE las lomas man CRITICALLY INJURED BY a hit and run DRIVER in santa cruz almost 2 weeks ago HAS DIED.   (on THURSDAY,) 70 year old adolfo galvan (HAS) DIED FROM INJURIES SUSTAINED WHEN HE was hit on the 7-hundred block of pacific avenue ON august 24th.  WITNESS DESCRIPTIONS LED TO THE ARREST OF 29 YEAR OLD joanne marie steele OF OAKLAND WHO HAD BEEN CAPTURED ON VIDEO BUYING ALCOHOL MINUTES BEFORE STRIKING THE VICTIM AND FLEEING THE SCENE. STEELE WAS ARRESTED AT A NEAR BY MOTEL AND CHARGED WITH FELONY HIT AND RUN, AND HAS SINCE MADE BAIL. RESULTS OF STEELE’S TOXICOLOGY TEST HAVE NOT BEEN RELEASED, HOWEVER WITH GALVAN’S DEATH SHE IS LIKELY TO FACE ADDITIONAL CHARGES AT HER ARRAIGNMENT.
