SNOW SURVEY - update - 04/03/12 06:30 S.S.

OUR  RECENT  RAINS  HAVE  HELPED  THE  california  mountain  SNOWPACK,   AND  THE  NEW  SURVEY  BY  THE  DEPARTMENT  of  water  resources indicates  it  is  now  at  55  percent  of  normal  (for  this  time  of  year).      that’s  up  from  just  30  percent  during last  month’s  survey.   California's reservoirs are reportedly  mostly  at 105 percent of average  (for this  time  of year).

W.V. Stabbing Victim ID'd 04/02/12 8:15p.m. TDH

Authorities have identified the victim of a fatal stabbing that took place in Watsonville on Saturday, as 21-year-old Brandon Gil.  The Watsonville resident died after being taken to Watsonville Community Hospital.  He was stabbed on the 500 block of Main Street.  No arrests were immediately made.  another victim is expected to recover.

Unconscious Victim ID sought (mont.) 04/02/12 8:15p.m. TDH

Authorities in monterey are asking for the public’s help in identifying the victim of a bicycle accident.  At 6 a.m. monday, the woman was riding near soledad drive and soledad place, when she collided with a pedestrian.   The woman was described as between 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-6, in her 50s, with a very thin build.  Her bicycle had the word “Broadway” on the frame.  She was unconscious after the accident.  The victim was air lifted to san jose regional medical center.  anyone with any idea about the identity of the victim is encouraged to contact the monterey police department.  She was reportedly wearing a north face fleece and gray cotton jogging pants.

A new president has been named for the salinas valley chamber of commerce.    41-year-old Paul farmer is currently on the chamber’s board of directors.   The Watsonville native is set to take over as leader of the chamber of commerce on april 16th.    Farmer replaces tom carvey, who left the chamber late last year.


Wanted woman arrested 04/02/12 6p.m. TDH

A wanted woman was arrested in santa cruz on Saturday night.  The 54-year-old woman, who goes by the unusual legal name “teddy bear paradise,” was arrested on church street.  she was wanted on a federal arrest warrant.   “Teddy bear paradise” has several prior convictions on federal charges, including a conviction for mailing a threatening letter to then-president george w. bush in 2008.
