GRASS FIRE ON JOLON ROAD - 08/20/14 08:50 S.S.

A GRASS FIRE, NEAR KING CITY YESTERDAY, BURNED LESS THAN AN ACRE. THE WILDFIRE WAS REPORTED AROUND 5 P-M ON JOLON ROAD NEAR FORT HUNTER LIGGET. A FED-EX TRUCK THAT HAD BEEN HAVING MECHANICAL ISSUES WAS PULLED OVER ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD DUE TO OVERHEATING PROBLEMS, AND IT SET THE NEARBY GRASS ON FIRE.

Local strike teams to Junction Fire- 1900 update - 08/20/14 0:700 S.S.

Cal-Fire crews from Santa Cruz, Monterey, and San Benito counties have joined firefighters working to put out the Junction Fire in Madera County. The more than 600-acre wildfire has destroyed 47 structures and damaged 6. Mandatory evacuations orders, and road closures have been lifted. Oakhurst and Wasuma Elementary Schools, Oak Creek Intermediate Schools and Yosemite High School are expected to re-open tomorrow (Thursday). An evacuation shelter is in-place at Yosemite Lakes Community Church, which is located at 43840 Patrick Street in Coarsegold.

SC COUNTY DEPUTIES SEEK AT-RISK MALE- 08-19-14 18:00 SG

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPUTIES ARE SEEKING AN      AT-RISK MAN WHO WENT MISSING LAST WEEK.     24-YEAR-OLD FRANCISCO LOPEZ IS A RESIDENT AT THE LIVE OAK HEALTH FACILITY ON SEVENTH AVENUE.     HE WAS REPORTED MISSING AT 10:30 PM THURSDAY.    LOPEZ IS LATINO, 5'8'', AND 130 LBS WITH BROWN HAIR AND BROWN EYES.     HE WAS LAST SEEN WEARING A HOODED FLANNEL JACKET AND KHAKI PANTS. ANYONE WITH INFORMATION ON HIS WHEREABOUTS IS URGED TO CALL 911 OR CONTACT THE SANTA CRUZ COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE.

SC COUNTY LIMITS OUTDOOR WATERING- 08-19-14 17:30 SG

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY OFFICIALS HAVE PASSED AN ORDINANCE LIMITING OUTDOOR WATERING.    THE BOARD OF SUPERVISORS APPROVED THE EMERGENCY MEASURE DURING A MEETING TODAY (TUES).     THE REGULATION PROHIBITS WATERING LANDSCAPES FROM 10 AM TO 5 PM.     ADDITIONALLY, RESIDENTS WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO WATER MORE THAN TWO DAYS A WEEK.    THE ORDINANCE DOES NOT APPLY TO COMMERCIAL GROWERS.
