s.c. drug charges 01/09/11 0630 e.a.

 

3 people were arrested friday night in Santa Cruz on drug charges.  a probation search was conducted by the santa cruz police department street crimes unit just before 9 p.m. on the 12-hundred block of branciforte drive.  the owner of the home, 42 year old valerie huemer, and two renters, 21 year old camielle johnson and 40 year old lance clifford, were determined to be under the influence of drugs.  the three were arrested for being under the influence and obstructing a police investigation.

 

numerous complaints have been made about drug activity at the home for past several years.

a legendary santa cruz big-wave surfer has announced his retirement.  darryl virostko, better known as “flea”, held a professional surf career that lasted over 20 years, including winning the maverick’s surf contest 3 times. flea has founded a program called “fleahab”, which helps recovering addicts by including surfing, skateboarding and outdoor activities.

wville jewelry robbery 01/09/11 0630 e.a.

a man is being sought in connection with a robbery of a watsonville jewelry store on friday evening.  around 5:30 p.m., two female suspects entered the ideal jewelry store on freedom boulevard posed as customers.  a male suspect entered the store and ordered the victims to the floor at gunpoint.  the two females removed jewelry from the displays before all 3 suspects fled in a black sports car southbound on freedom boulevard.  the man is described as a hispanic adult, 5-feet ten inches tall and weighing 170 pounds. one of the femaLE suspects is described as 5-foot 3, 110 pounds, and the other as 5-foot 7, 170 pounds.  anyone with any information on this robbery is asked to contact the crime tip line at 728-3544.

Fatal Accident, MCO 01/08/12 9:35p.m. TDH

A teenager suffered fatal injuries, and another was seriously injured, during a head-on collision in Monterey county.  on sunday evening, The 2 were driving in opposite directions on reservation road (near Blanco Road), when they collided.  1 of the victims was declared dead at the scene of the 7:20 p.m. accident.  The other victim was air-lifted out of the county with major injuries.  The cause of the accident is under investigation.
