TWO BONNY DOON MEN WERE ARRESTED AFTER A POT BUST NEAR SANTA CRUZ COUNTY CREEK LAST WEEK.    OFFICERS FOUND A GROW ILLEGALLY DIVERTING WATER FROM AN ENDANGERED SALMON STREAM.     180-PLANTS AS WELL AS FERTILIZER AND BUTANE CANISTERS WERE SEIZED AT THE SITE. 29-YEAR-OLD NATHAN GLEN AND 33-YEAR-OLD GARTH  DUMONT WERE BOOKED INTO SANTA CRUZ COUNTY JAIL ON SUSPICION OF ILLEGAL CULTIVATION OF MARIJUANA, UNLAWFUL DIVERSION OF WATER, AND DUMPING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS.

WATSONVILLE HOTEL THIEF PLEADS GUILTY 7-21-14 1830 og

THE MAN ARRESTED AND CHARGED IN A 2014 HOTEL ROBBERY PLEADS GUILTY. 37-YEAR OLD ARMANDO FARFAN PLED TO ONE COUNT OF FIRST-DEGREE RESIDENTIAL BURGLARY AND TWO COUNTS OF ROBBERY. FARFAN ATTEMPTED TO STEAL A COMPUTER AND PURSE FROM A GUEST AND THREATENED THE FRONT DESK ATTENDANT WHILE ROBBING HIM OF HIS WALLET AND COMPUTER AT THE WATSONVILLE DAYS INN IN THE EARLY HOURS OF JANUARY 20TH. HE WAS IDENTIFIED FROM HOTEL SURVEILLANCE FOOTAGE AND WAS ARRESTED TWO DAYS LATER.

SC THIEVES NAB $8,000 IN BIKES 7-21-14 1800 og

A VACATIONING FAMILY HAD 4 BIKES, WORTH ALMOST EIGHT THOUSAND DOLLARS, STOLEN EARLY SATURDAY MORNING. ACCORDING TO VIDEO SURVEILLANCE FROM THEIR SANTA CRUZ HOTEL, ABOUT 4:30 A-M, THREE MALES USED BOLT CUTTERS TO CUT THE CABLE LOCK THAT CONNECTED THE FOUR BICYCLES TO THEIR CAR. DETAILED DESCRIPTIONS OF THE SUSPECTS WERE NOT YET AVAILABLE. ANYONE WITH ANY INFORMATION IS ENCOURAGED TO CONTACT THE SANTA CRUZ POLICE DEPARTMENT.

BURN PERMIT FEES PROPOSED 7-21-14 1715 og

THE MONTEREY BAY AIR DISTRICT WILL HOLD ITS FINAL SCHEDULED PUBLIC INPUT MEETING TOMORROW (TUES) ON PROPOSED OPEN BURN PERMIT FEES. THE FEES WOULD BE EFFECTIVE IN MONTEREY, SAN BENITO, AND SANTA CRUZ COUNTIES AND INCLUDE BACKYARD, AGRICULTURAL, AND PRESCRIBED BURNS. THE PROPOSAL WILL ALSO BE ON THE AIR DISTRICT’S AGENDA IN AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER, WITH THE FINAL ADOPTION HEARING IN OCTOBER.

THE MEETING WILL BE HELD FROM 10:30 A-M TO 12 P-M, AT THE SAN BENITO COUNTY BLDG IN HOLLISTER.

DISTRICT ATTORNEYS FROM 4 COUNTIES, INCLUDING MONTEREY, HAVE BEEN AWARDED A PERMANENT INJUNCTION AGAINST CRYSTAL KISICKI, THE ANIMAL HOARDER AND OPERATOR OF THE FAKE SAINT FRANCIS ALL CREATURE RESCUE AND SANCTUARY ARRESTED IN JUNE 2013. THE INJUNCTION BARS KISICKI AND THE SAINT FRANCIS RESCUE FROM POSSESSING, RESCUING, SELLING, OR ADOPTING ANY ANIMALS, REQUIRES ALL WEB PAGES AND PROFILES TO BE REMOVED FROM THE INTERNET, AND INCLUDES RESTITUTION TO THE SPCA FOR MONTEREY COUNTY, AMONG OTHER STIPULATIONS.

KISICKI PLEADED GUILTY TO TWO COUNTS OF ANIMAL CRUELTY IN JANUARY OF THIS YEAR. SHE WAS SENTENCED TO THREE YEARS PROBATION AND 10 DAYS IN JAIL.
