PGrove Storm Recovery Report 1.29.2021 1137 3 JS

 Pacific Grove Public Works officials have been hard at work helping the community recover from recent storms.

Some of the work includes collecting downed tree limbs, clearing storm drains, and addressing localized flooding.  

Pacific Grove Public Works reports over 200 yards of debris were collected on Wednesday, equivalent to 20 dump truck loads.

Crews continue to clean up and request that motorists exercise caution when traveling storm damaged roads.

Watsonville Arrest 1.29.2021 1135 2 JS

A Watsonville gang member has been arrested in connection with a felony vandalism case.

19-year-old Manuel Gonzalez is accused of causing more than $15,000 in damages to a bathroom building and a hand-painted mural at River Park on January 6.

The detailed mural and the building were covered in gang tagging.

He Watsonville Arrest 1.29.2021 1135 2 JS was booked into the county jail on several felony charges, including child endangerment.

PGE Truck Crash 1.29.2021 1130 1 JS

Shortly after midnight last night, a Pacific Gas & Electric truck was swept off the roadway during the storm when a portion of Valencia School Road in Aptos washed out.

The driver involved walked away from the scene with minor injuries, and Valencia School Road remains closed because of the roadbed failure.

Some Residents Allowed Home. 01-29-21 11:39 S.S.

Some Carmel area residents evacuated yesterday morning were allowed to return home yesterday afternoon. The 25-hundred residents of the Carmel River Lagoon area were told around 3:30 yesterday afternoon that they could go home. They had been evacuated after water coming out of the Carmel River backed up at the Lagoon and a flood warning was issued.
