PGPD Reports on Cat Converter Thefts 02.01.2021 0630 4 JS

Pacific Grove Police reports an uptick in catalytic converter thefts, with 8 reports filed since October.

As a result, they share the following tips to assist in preventing catalytic converter theft:

  • Install protective plates that make it harder for them to be stolen
  • Park in a locked garage or well-lit area, install motion sensor lights that cover where you park your car.
  • Enable your vehicle alarm system
  • Engrave your vehicle identification number prominently on the catalytic converter.

Battery Suspect Santa Cruz 02.01.2021 0620 3 JS

Santa Cruz Police Department requests help of the community in identifying a suspect involving battery.

The incident occurred on January 5th around 11 AM in the area of Beach and Third Streets, and recently SCPD was able to post a video surveillance snapshot of the suspect, viewable on social media and the KSCO News website.

The suspect that battered a driver for unknown reasons is described as a white adult male, approximately 40 to 50 years old, riding a white Specialized bicycle, glasses, helmet and a mask.

PVUSD Rehired Superintendent 02.01.2021 0540 2 JS

The board of trustees for Pajaro Valley Unified School District unanimously voted to undo the firing of superintendent Michelle Rodriguez.

Several teachers within Pajaro Valley School District, members of the community, parents, teachers demanded a change in board leadership as a result of this initial firing.

The reason behind initially terminating Rodriguez is unknown, and two trustees who backed the initial firing were unseated as a result of this series of events.

Animal Abuse Case 02.01.2021 0520 1 JS

Officials with Hollister Police Animal Care and Services has reported that two dogs were found to be deceased from abuse.

On Friday, Animal control officers were sent to John Smith Road and Best Road to discover the two dogs with gunshot wounds.

Both dogs belonged to an owner on Shore Road and were lost the day before, and officials believe that felony animal abuse was committed.

70 y-o Man Arr In KC 01-31-21 10:08 S.S.

A 70 year-old man was arrested in King City after a juvenile accused him of inappropriately touching her. She said when she tried to end the interaction, he hugged her and then touched an intimate part of her body. Anyone who may have witnessed the Friday interaction on North Vanderhurst Avenue is encouraged to contact the King City Police Department.
