Debris Flow Town Hall Mtgs 02-02-21A 08:55 S.S.

2  Debris  Flow  town  hall  meetings  are  now  scheduled  to  take  place  in  Santa  Cruz  county  this  week.     They  are  slated  to  take  place  from  5:30 to 7 p-m.      The  District  5  meeting  is  tomorrow (Wednesday),  and  the  District  3  meetings  is  this  Thursday.  The  links for those meetings are:

Today Is The Deadline 02-02-21A 08:34 S.S.

Today  is  the  final  day  for  property  owners  (who’s  homes  were  impacted   by  last  year’s  wildfires)  to  sign  up  for  the  state’s  Consolidated  Debris  Removal  Program.  This  is  an  opt-in  program,  and  will not  cost  participating property owners.   Property  owners  only  need  to  submit  a  Right-Of-Entry  form  to  their  county.    More  fire  recovery  information,  including  copies  of  the  R.O.E.  Forms,   can  be  found  on-line  at:  WildFireRecovery.ca.gov

UPDATE: HIGHWAY 1 CLOSURE 02-02-21 08:00 S.S.

The  44-mile  closure  of  Highway  1  is  becoming   a  23 mile  closure.   That’s  because  the  closure  points  have  been  moved  closer  together.  They  are  now  at  11 miles  north  of  the  San  Luis  Obispo  county  line  at  Willow  Creek  Road,   and  about  34  miles  north  of  the  San  Luis  Obispo  county  line  at  the  South  Coast  Center.   The  150-foot  wide  gap  in  highway  1  at  rat  creek  (2  miles  south  of  Esalen Institute)  is  within  that  closure.  Cal-Trans  crews  are  continuing  to  work  to  fully  assess  the  damage  at  Rat  Creek.   A 24-hour traffic control site will be set up at each  of  the  road closure sites,  to allow only local residents to return and assess damage to their homes.   Cal-Trans crews are continuing to work on a full assessment of the damage.

L O Woman vs. Car-2/1/21-1755-PMD

A Santa Cruz was hospitalized after being struck by a truck on Friday. The 55 year old was walking her dog when she was struck by the vehicle making a turn at the corner of 17th Avenue and Rodriguez Street. The victim was transported to a bay area trauma center. Drugs and Alcoho; do not appear to be a factor.

New Leaf Community Markets are the subject of multiple recalls. The California Department of Public Health announced that several deli products are under recall at New Leaf Community Markets. The items under recall were packed between the dates of Jan. 22 and Jan. 26, and the reason for the recall is listed as listed allergens.
