SALINAS MOLESTER'S SENTENCED-2/5/21-1552-PMD

A SALINAS MAN HAS BEEN SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR SEXUAL CHILD ABUSE. 30 YEAR OLD OCTAVIO FRANCISCO FLORES WAS CONVICTED OF MOLESTING HIS GIRLFRIENDS 7 YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IN 2019. ON FRIDAY A JUDGE SENTENCED FLORES TO 16 YEARS IN PRISON,

Marina Shooting Suspect Sought 02-05-21 10:12 S.S.

A  person  who  shot  and  injured  a  man in  Marina  on Wednesday  is  being  sought.   The shooting  reportedly  took  place  around  5:15 p-m  near  the  intersection  of  Reservation  Road  and  Del  Monte  Boulevard.  The shooter  is  believed  to  have  been  traveling  in  a  silver  van  that was  last  seen  turning  onto  Lake  Drive toward Paddon  Place.    Anyone  with  information  about  this  shooting,  or  the  shooter,  is  encouraged  to  contact  the  Marina  Police  Department.

Surge Of Cases Expected 02-05-21 09:37 S.S.

Based  on  local  and  state  models,  there  is  expected  to  be an  increase  in Covid-19-related hospitalizations  and  I.C.U.  admissions,   as  well as  deaths  in  late  March  and  early April.    Residents  are  strongly  encouraged  to  wear (or continue to wear) facial  coverings,  maintain  social  distancing,  and  personal  hygiene, and  not  gather with people outside their household.    Residents  age  75  and  older,  who  have  the  highest  mortality  rate,  are  being  prioritized  to  get  the  Covid-19  vaccines.

Drive-Ins Back In MCo 02-05-21 09:21 S.S.

The  Monterey  County  Fair  And  Events  Center  has  announced  that  they  will  be  brining  back  their  drive-in  movies  in  the  Pattee  Arena  later  this  month.     They  plan  to  show  movies  on  both  Fridays  and  Saturdays  February  27th  and  27th,  as  well  as  march  5th  and  6th.     People  are  encouraged  to  pre-purchase  their  tickets  on-line,  as  they  are  expected  to  sell  out.    Potential  attendees can  call,  or  go  on-line  to,  the  Monterey  County  Fair  And  Events  Center  for  further  information.

Stolen Generator - Man Arr 02-05-21 08:37 S.S.

A  driver  has  been  arrested  after  an  investigation  that  took  place  in  Monterey  county.   29  year-old  Silvino  Suarez  Benjar  from  Castroville  was  arrested  after  he  was  seen  driving a  suspicious  vehicle  that  was  towing  a  generator  that  was  stolen  in  San  Benito  county.     Benjar  faces  possible  charges  of  possession  of stolen  property,  and  possession  of  methamphetamine  for  sale,  as  well  as  a  variety  of  weapons  charges.
