Update: Local Covid-19 Cases 02-02-09-21A 03:55 S.S.

  • In Monterey county there have been more than 40,000 known cases of Covid-19 total. There are currently 1,107 known active cases. 106 of those people are currently hospitalized, with 18 of those in the ICU. 289 people have died.
  • In Santa Cruz county, there are 1,240 known active cases of Covid-19, 41 of those people are hospitalized, with 11 of them in the ICU. 159 people have died.
  • In San Benito county, where people from 15 days-old to 101 years-old have tested positive for Covid-19.......140 cases remain active, 11 people are currently hospitalized, with 4 of them in the ICU. 55 people have died.

Caltrans input Sought-2/8/21-1824-PMD

 Caltrans District 5 is looking for public input on its draft Active Transportation Plan. The Plan will identify locations where bicycle and pedestrian improvements might be needed on the state highway system. SC Harbor Dredging Update-2/8/21-1804-PMD

The Santa Cruz Harbor released a statement saying that Mariners are currently advised not to transit the entrance for their safety and the safety of their vessels but are encouraged to continue to monitor the progress being made in restoring navigability of the entrance by monitoring the sounding. Supreme Court Opens Churches-2/8/21-1644-PMD

The California Supreme Court has ruled against California’s ban on Church services. Church’s recently banned indoor worship services, and churches and other houses of worship are now allowed to resume indoor services. On Friday the 6-3 decision was announced. Services will be modified to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

Mo Co Fatal DUI Crash-2/8/21-1637-PMD

A driver who caused a fatal crash is facing murder charges. On February 2nd 27 year old Balthazar Donato of Greenfield dove the wrong way on Highway 101 crashing into a car killing Sabrina Leece and injuring Grisey Castro. Donato was booked into The Monterey County Jail on murder and dui charges.
