The fate of an already-approved affordable housing project is up in the air right now because of restrictions on adding water hook-ups on the Monterey Peninsula. The Garden Road project, and possibly other similar projects on the Monterey Peninsula, are caught between one state agency requiring each region to provide more housing, while the State Water Resources Control Board is not allowing any more water hook-ups on the Monterey Peninsula.....at least not until a new water source is available. That’s because of the poor status of the already over-pumped Carmel River.

A Boulder Creek area camp for people with Special Needs has had thousands of dollars worth of equipment stolen, and 5 of their vans vandalized. Officials with Camp Krem say they will need to raise about 2 million dollars to replace equipment, and deal with the aftermath of the CZU Lightning Complex Fires. They expect it to take 2 to 5 years to rebuild and re-open to the public. Their fundraising page can be found on-line at: CampingUnlimited.org/donate

A memorial, to those who have died from Covid-19 in Monterey county, will be held in Lovers Point Park next week. From the 17th to the 20th, flags will be displayed, with each flag representing a Monterey county resident who died. On Friday February 19th, 14 churches and other places of worship plan to hold an interfaith ceremony there starting at 10 a.m. Current standard safety protocols are expected to be adhered to for this event, including people wearing facial coverings that cover their mouth and nose, zand remaing 6 feet apart when not with the members of their household.
