Monterey Drug Bust 02.15.2021 0555 3 JS

A man was arrested last week after failing to yield for a traffic enforcement stop in Monterey.

The driver, Benjamin Gogarty was found with a suspended driver’s license along with a bag of methamphetamine and narcotics smoking paraphernalia.

Additionally, a disassembled Polymer 80 handgun was found with no serial number.

Benjamin was booked into Monterey County Jail on firearm, suspended license, failure to yield, and DUI-related charges. However, his bail was $0 due to the current Emergency Bail Schedule and he was released as a result.

Hollister SNIPBus Grant 02.15.2021 0545 2 JS

The Hollister City Council recently approved $56,000 in funding for the Spay Neuter Imperative Project, otherwise known as SNIP Bus.

As a result, mobile low-cost spay and neuter services for cats and dogs will be provided once a month for those in the Hollister community.

Additionally, the Hollister Animal Shelter will also get assistance with these services, along with four additional dates during the year for assisting with feral cats.

This is the third year in which the city of Hollister has approved funding for SNIP Bus.

Carmel Cat Spotting 02.15.2021 0525 1 JS

A resident of Carmel spotted two mountain lions on their home surveillance system on Sunday in the area of Scenic Road and 8th Avenue shortly after midnight.

Carmel Police advises residents to stay vigilant when out after dark and recommend carrying flashlights, keep children close to you, not to approach the lions, and do all you can to appear larger if you are confronted by one.

Propane Shortages-2/15/21-1819-PMD

Rural residents of Santa Cruz County have been experiencing a propane shortage. Customers of a major propane provider have been reporting missed deliveries. Clients of Amerigas report being put on the emergency delivery list and not receiving propane for weeks. It is unclear whether the situation is due to a lack of drivers or of a lack of propane.

Mountain Elementary Sup-2/15/21-1757-PMD

Mountain Elementary School District has a new supervisor. named a new superintendent recently. The one school district,  appointed Megan Tresham as the next superintendent of the district. Tresham will take over after the conclusion of the 2020-21 school year.
