UCSC Expand Plan Continues 12.21.2020 0825 6 JS

Plans to expand UCSC and increase enrollment are continuing, even though community members expressed opposition with the 2018 vote on Measure U.
Morgan Bostick with ActOnUCSCGrowth.Org explains what the future holds in terms of campus growth…

“The university is proposing an additional 8,500 students. They are not entering into a binding legal commitment that would make it so they would have to provide the resources before students step on campus. The university right now only has to provide 65% of the housing for incoming students, not for all students in total”, Morgan said.

Bostick also mentioned that housing on campus is operating at over 120% of capacity.
