With a Covid-19 test positivity rate of 85 per 100,000 people, it doesn't look as though students will be on-campus in Monterey county anytime soon. The test positivity rate needs to be 25 or less to get students back into their physical classrooms. That said, once the current cases resolve, and mass vaccinations are taking place, that could change fairly quickly. Currently, vaccinations are still only for people in Phase 1a, Tiers 1, 2, and 3.

4 people face multiple weapons charges. That after a loaded handgun was in plain sight in the vehicle they were in during a traffic stop in Santa Cruz county last week. Another handgun was also found in a fanny pack in the vehicle. The 4 were booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

Hot Pocket Recall 01-17-21 05:11 S.S.

A Class 1 recall has been issued for 12-packs of particular Hot Pockets that may have bits of glass or plastic in them. The 4 Lot Codes of Pepperoni Hot Pockets involved, all have the Best Buy date of February 2022, and an establishment order of EST. 7721A inside the U.S.D.A. mark of inspection.

Consumers who have the recalled product are asked to throw it away, or return it to the place of purchase.

Cabrillo Grant 1/15/21 5a Ci

Cabrillo College gets a shot in the arm from the federal government to the tune of 8-point-8 million dollars.  The money will provide a minimum of 2-million dollars be given directly to students for emergency grants.

 

Approximately 500-dollars will be disbursed to students in need as soon as possible. The money comes under the “2020 corona virus response and relief supplemental appropriations act” to help the college with Covid 19 instruction.

 

The grant will also be used to upgrade online learning tools.
