A case of mistaken identity is being investigated in Santa Cruz after a car in the Seabright area was vandalized this week. Police say that a vandal protesting the verdict in the Johannes Mehserle trial, broke all the windows of a vehicle, slashed it’s tires and left a message on the car that read “Rest In Peace Oscar”. The vandalism is believed to have been targeted at an undercover police vehicle, however officers say the car belonged to a Santa Cruz firefighter. No arrests have been made.
