W.v. early registration 7/29/10 TDH

Office hours at watsonville high school are scheduled to be extended today(thurs), as early registration begins for the upcoming school year.  The office is usually open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., however it will be open today until 7 p.m.  the extended hours are also set to be effective on august 5th and 6th.

FIREFIGHTERS AGAINST CANCER 0729/10 E.A.

The annual Firefighter Cancer Support Network motorcycle ride came through Watsonville this week.  The ride began Monday in Oakland and will end in Los Angeles. About 2 dozen firefighters participate in the ride to raise money to help the families of firefighters who are battling cancer.

Mo.Co. Molest conviction 07/29/10 E.A.

A Salinas man was convicted of three felony counts of committing lewd acts on a child yesterday.  48 year-old Brett Passineau was found guilty of molesting his two adopted sons.  Passineau’ attorney says he plans to file an appeal for a new trial. Passineau facea a possible sentence of 30 years to life.

Castroville DUI 7/29/10 TDH

Monterey county sheriff’s deputies arrested a 24-year-old man last night in castroville, on d-u-i-charges.   Deputies stopped gabriel gonzales gomes for a vehicle code violation at cooper and merritt streets.   After a deputy claimed he smelled alcohol on gomes’ breath, gomes fled on foot.   He was tackled by the deputy in a nearby backyard.   After being treated for a cut forehead at a local hospital, gomes was arrested for 2-charges of d-u-i, and 1-count of resisting arrest.

Violation of restraining order 7/29/10 TDH

A 45-year-old man is back in custody, after ramming his car into a house in lompico on tuesday, where he was forbidden from being.   A restraining order was issued on monday against scott drummond, after he was jailed for domestic abuse. He posted bail that day, and was released.  The order barred him from going onto the lake boulevard property.   On tuesday, he violated that order, when he allegedly rammed his car into the house twice at 6:40 p.m., causing minor structural damage.   He was arrested nearby, about a half-hour later.
