ZERO MOTORCYCLE GRANT 08-05-10 19:00 a.v.

A nearly 1-million dollar grant has been awarded to a Scotts Valley business. The California Energy Commission has given the $900,000 grant to Zero Motorcycle to launch a new electric power-train development project in Santa Cruz. The City Council approved a $175,000 loan to help the reported leader in the electric motorcycle industry obtain matching funds for the grant. The company plans to open a dealership along with it’s new research center in Santa Cruz.

JAMES MARTIN TOXICOLOGY - 08/04/10 21:30 S.S.

A  SALINAS  MAN'S  DEATH  HAS  BEEN  RULED  AN  ACCIDENT.  THAT  AFTER  THE  TOXICOLOGY  TEST  RESULTS  FOR  30  YEAR-OLD  JAMES  MARTIN  SHOW  THAT  HE  DIED  AS  A  RESULT  OF  "Excited  Delirium due to acute methamphetamine intoxication".    MARTIN  IS  BELIEVED  TO  HAVE  LEFT  HIS  HOME  THROUGH  A  WINDOW,   THEN  GONE  OVER  A  FENCE   AND  THROUGH  A  NEIGHBOR'S  GARAGE  WINDOW,   INTO  THE  GARAGE  WHERE  HIS  BODY  WAS  LATER  FOUND.

APTOS TEACHER PLEADS NOT GUILTY 08-05-10 17:00 a.v.

An Aptos Junior High School teacher pleaded not guilty to all charges today after having been accused of having a sexual relationship with a 13-year old female student. 60-year old Steven Sande faces 20-counts of sex crimes, including continuous abuse of a child, lewd acts with a child, creating and possessing child pornography, sending lewd matter to a child over the internet, and arranging a meeting with a child for sexual purposes. The charges carry a possible prison term of up to 30 years. Sande, who was the victim’s math teacher, also sent school officials a letter of resignation last week, effective August 17th. A preliminary hearing date has been set for November 15th.

PIT  BULLS AND  CHIHUAHUAS THAT  LIVE  IN  HOLLISTER  MAY  SOON  HAVE  TO  BE  SPAYED  OR  NEUTERED.      THE  FIRST  READING  OF  A  PROPOSED  ORDINANCE,   THAT WOULD  MANDATE  THE  “FIXING”  OF SUCH  ANIMALS  WAS  READ  THIS  WEEK  AT  THE  HOLLISTER  CITY  COUNCIL  MEETING.     THE  ORDINANCE  COULD  BE  ADOPTED  AS  SOON  AS  THE  CITY  COUNCIL’S  AUGUST  16TH MEETING.

 

ACCORDING  TO  A  HOLLISTER  CITY  STAFF  REPORT,  UN-ALTERED  DOGS  (ESPECIALLY  OF  THOSE  2  BREEDS)  ARE  MORE LIKELY  TO  BE  AGGRESSIVE  THAN THEIR  “ALTERED”  COUNTERPARTS.

A  RETIRED  C.S.U. -  CHICO  PROFESSOR  HAS  PARTNERED  WITH  THE  FOLKS   WHO  RUN  THE  TRI-COUNTY  AREA  EDUCATIONAL  PROGRAM  KNOWN  AS  AGRI-CULTURE,  TO  SET  UP  TOURS  FOR  VISITING  UKRANIAN  BERRY  FARMERS.     AS  PART  OF  THE  WEEK-LONG TOUR  OF  CALIFORNIA’S  AGRICULTURE,   THE  15  FARMERS  SPENT  3  DAYS  VISITING  TRI-COUNTY  AREA  FARMS.
