California officials have canceled what would be the state’s first execution since 2006. Albert Greenwood Brown was scheduled to be executed by the state Wednesday, however that was postponed to today, and the plan has now been called off. The attorney general’s office filed court papers yesterday, saying that they can no longer proceed with the execution, after a judge ruled he needed more time to evaluate the newly-established procedures The state could’ve performed the execution this Friday, however the state’s supply of the drug used in the lethal injection will have expired by then.
