P.B. ART HEIST LAWSUIT 10-04-10 10:00 a.v.

2 men, who claimed to be victims of a multi-million dollar art heist in Pebble Beach last year, have sued the County of Monterey. The lawsuit filed last week by Dr. Ralph Kennaugh and Angelo Ben Amadio cites defamation and false light statements. The lawsuit follows a reported theft of artworks, worth an estimated value of 80-million dollars, from their Pebble Beach rental home on September 25th. The 1st court date for the case is slated for February of next year.

RIDE-2-RECOVERY 10-04-10 09:30 a.v.

Hundreds of injured military veterans rode their bicycles to the Central Coast yesterday in an effort to raise funds to support rehabilitation programs for the nation’s military veterans and soldiers. Ride-to-Recovery is a 7-day ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles designed to provide both physical and mental rehabilitation to wounded veterans. Today riders are expected to pass through Monterey to their next stop in Carmel.

Fort Ord Vets Cemetery 10/04/10 0800 E.A.

The construction and design of a planned veteran's cemetery at Fort Ord can now move forward. That's because Assembly Bill 1757 has been signed by Governor Schwarzenegger, which will allow funding for the design and construction of the Central Coast Cemetery. When completed, the cemetery will stretch 78-acres and serve all veterans.

Salinas Armory 10/04/10 0800 E.A.

Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has signed a bill into law that would allow the Salinas Armory to be used for recreation. Assembly Bill 815 will allow the use of the facility for recreational programs. The Salinas Police Activities League hopes to lease the armory to hold after-school and sports programs for Salinas children.

K.C. STABBING/ARREST - UPDATE 10-04-10 08:30 a.v./T.H.

One man has been arrested and another is in stable condition after a stabbing occurred yesterday afternoon at a motel in King City. Police found Jeronimo Gaspar at The King City Motel on South First Street at 4:30 p.m. with a stab wound to his chest. Police later arrested Gaspar’s roommate, Sergio Francisco who reportedly stabbed him in the torso with a kitchen knife after a verbal altercation ensued. Francisco was booked into Monterey County jail for attempted murder.
