MONTEREY TRAVELODGE ARREST 10-05-10 16:00 a.v.

A Pebble Beach man was arrested at a Monterey Hotel early this morning on suspicion of possessing a destructive device and outstanding warrants. Police responded to a report of a person sleeping in their vehicle at the Travelodge Hotel in the 2,000 block of North Fremont Street just after midnight. A bomb squad was called to the scene around 2 a.m. after a U.S. World War 2 hand grenade was discovered inside the man’s car. As a result, guests staying at the hotel were evacuated, meanwhile 48-year old Joseph Martin Beverding was booked into Monterey County Jail.

BLUE WHALE INVESTIGATIONS 10-05-10 15:45 a.v.

Investigations into the death of a pregnant whale were set to begin Monday after it and a whale fetus were found over the weekend on a beach about 35 miles north of Santa Cruz. Researchers from U.C. Santa Cruz, U.C.S.C’s Long Marine Lab and the Marine Mammal Center in Sausalito are working to determine what caused the 80-feet long, 75-ton blue whale and it’s 17-foot whale fetus to wash ashore Bean Hollow State Beach. Researchers, who speculate the whale died 4 to 5 days ago, say the whale will not be moved until samples have been taken.

HIGHWAY 9 RE-OPENED - 10/05/10 09:51 S.S.

AFTER  BEING  CLOSED  SINCE  JUNE  7TH HIGHWAY  9 HAS  RE-OPENED  IN  FELTON.   CAL-TRANS  HIRED  AN  ALAMO  CALIFORNIA  COMPANY  TO  CONSTRUCT  A  RETAINING  WALL,  AS  WELL  AS  A  NEW  DRAINAGE  SYSTEM.      HIGHWAY  9 WAS  ALSO  RE-SURFACED.      ALTHOUGH  THE  ROADWAY  HAS  RE-OPENED,   SOME  GUARDRAIL  WORK  STILL  NEEDS  TO  BE  DONE.    THAT  WORKS  IS  EXPECTED  TO  BE  COMPLETED  BY  THE  END  OF  THIS  MONTH.

B C WOMAN SENTENCED - 10/05/10 09:31 S.S.

A  WOMAN,   WHO  TRIED  TO CONCEAL  HER  HUSBAND’S  SEXUAL  ABUSE  OF  A  GIRL,  HAS  BEEN  SENTENCED  TO  SPEND  TIME  IN PRISON.     57  YEAR-OLD  BOULDER  CREEK RESIDENT  FAITH  McDOUGAL WAS  SENTENCED  TO SPEND  3  YEARS  BEHIND  BARS  FOR  FELONY  CHILD  ENDANGERMENT,  AND  WITNESS INTIMIDATION.      HER  HUSBAND,  RONALD  EUGENE  McDOUGAL HAS  BEEN  SENTENCED  TO  SPEND  17  YEARS-TO-LIFE  IN  PRISON,  FOR  SEXUAL  ABUSING  THE  GIRL  FOR  2  YEARS.     SHE  WAS  JUST  11  YEARS-OLD  WHEN  THE  ABUSE  BEGAN.

Although  not  many details  have  been  released  yet,   THE  8  YEAR-OLD  GIRL  (WHO  WAS  ABDUCTED  FROM  IN  FRONT  OF  HER  FRESNO  AREA  HOME  LAST NIGHT)  HAS  BEEN FOUND  SAFE.     THE  KIDNAPPER  REPORTEDLY  REMAINS  AT  LARGE,   AND  ANYONE  WITH  ANY  INFORMATION  ABOUT  HIS  WHEREABOUTS  IS  ENCOURAGED  TO  CONTACT  THEIR  LOCAL  AUTHORITIES.
