A drive-by shooting that left one person injured in Salinas over the weekend is being investigated as gang-related. Police say a passenger riding in a dark-colored vehicle opened fire on 3 men walking westbound on John Street at Shasta Way. An 18-year old was taken to a local hospital with non-life threatening gunshot wounds.

3 suspects involved in 2 separate Salinas robberies over the weekend are still being sought. The 1st incident occurred Saturday night just before 11 p.m. on the 100 block of King Street. A 19-year old man was struck several times before the 2 17-year old suspects stole his wallet. The 2nd victim was robbed at 11:39 p.m. on San Benito Street and South Madeira Avenue. Police say the 32-year old victim was robbed by a suspect described as a 40-year old bald man while he was walking home from a local night club. Anyone with any information is asked to call the Salinas Police Department.

A 31-year old Santa Cruz man was arrested on drug, gun and parole violation charges Friday afternoon. Police say Jose Enriquez Ramirez was taken into custody after a probation search was conducted a at his Morrissey Boulevard home Friday morning. Officers located a loaded handgun, ammunition, 4-grams of methamphetamine, 32-grams of cocaine, over 200-ecstasy pills, prescription drugs, and marijuana. Ramirez was arrested without incident and was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail.

A 3-alarm blaze, that broke out Saturday in San Jose, took 8 hours to contain. The fire on the 400 block of Eggo Way, just West of Highway 101, was reported just before 5 p.m. Saturday night. Fire officials say the blaze completely destroyed a building that operated a radio station, burned 5-acres of vegetation, and briefly threatened a Kellogg’s factory. No one was inside of the building and no injuries were reported during the time of the fire, which was contained as of 1:25 a.m. Sunday morning.
