SC Co CoVid Order-12/7/20-1800-PMD

Santa Cruz County is expected to enact the regional stay at home order next Monday. County health officials project that open beds in area hospitals will drop below the 15 percent level at about that time. The order could be enacted earlier if infection numbers increase more rapidliy.

UCSC Rhodes Scholar-12/7/20-1744-PMD

A UCSC student has joined an exclusive list of scholars including names like president Clinton. Garima Desai was one of 32 students picked to attend graduate school at Oxford University. The UC Santa Cruz graduate is the first student from the school to win a Rhodes Scholarship.

SC Area Ramp Closures-12/7/20-1725-PMD

Multiple freeway ramps along Highway 1 in Santa Cruz County will be subject to intermittent closure beginning this morning. (Tuesday Dec. 8). The ramp closures are State Park, Park avenue, Bay/Porter, as well as Ocean Street and Emeline. The closures will continue through Friday. Motorists are advised to expect delays of up to 10 minutes.

SC area Shooting UPDATE-12/7/20-1702-PMD

Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s investigators are preparing to interview a shooting victim. The victim is recovering after being shot multiple times shortly after 7 p-m on the 31 hundred block of Winkle Avenue in Soquel. The interview is expected to take place Tuesday afternoon. At this time there are no suspects.

Safeway Cash Taken-12/7/20-1626-PMD

Salinas authorities are looking for two people seen taking cash from an automated checker. On Sunday a shopper requested 3 hundred dollars cash back during a transaction at the Safeway on North Main Street, the shopper then forgot to take the dispensed monies and then the couple next in line took the cash without alerting anyone. Salinas police say that misappropriating found property is considered a crime, so anyone with information is asked to contact Salinas police. A picture of the couple can be seen on the departments Facebook page.
