A man has been hospitalized in stable condition as the result of an officer-involved shooting in Hollister yesterday. That after officers responded to a home on Kimberly Court where a man had allegedly threatened family members with a kitchen knife. He then threatened the officers with a large knife and set items on fire and threw them at the officers. After attempts to de-escalate the situation didn’t work, officers opened gunfire, striking the suspect. They then rendered medical aid until the ambulance arrived and transported him to an area hospital. The Monterey County District Attorney’s office has agreed to assist and is conducting the investigation of the shooting.

A San Ardo school student has won a statewide contest. 8th grader Zuliana Carbajal won the statewide art contest put on by the California Small School District’s Association. Her artwork will be featured on the S-S-D-A’s annual holiday card....and will be sent out to hundreds of school districts.

Hollister city officials have voted to add security cameras to a local park. That’s because there have been issues with gang activity at McCarthy Park. The new cameras, which are expected to be installed in the next few months, could mean that law enforcement officers will be able to “see’ what’s going on in the park, before they even get there.

A new Santa Cruz County Clerk has been appointed to the seat that Gail Pellerin is vacating at the end of this month. Pellerin spent 28 years as a public servant. Her assistant county clerk Tricia Webber, who has been with the Santa Cruz County Elections Department for 22 years, will take over the position.
