KC Police Chief Goes To SLO 12-10-20 10:54 S.S.

The police chief in King City is stepping down, so he can take a new job in a city about an hour’s drive south from king city. Robert Masterson will take on the job in the city of Atascadero (in San Luis Obispo County).

Starting January 4th of 2021 Captain Keith Boyd will be the interim King City Police Chief.

Masterson will be honored for his service at the next city council meeting....which will be held on Zoom next Tuesday starting at 6 p.m., and the public is encouraged to participate.

SC All-Way Stop Sign 12-10-20 10:36 S.S.

New all-way stop signs have been installed in a Santa Cruz intersection. The stop signs are at the intersection of Bay and California Streets and they are designed to provide trail users (of the new segment of the Rail Trail a way to safely cross bay street. The ribbon cutting ceremony for that segment of the Rail Trail is set to begin at noon today.

Playgrounds OK 12-10-20 10:13 S.S.

The state has reversed it’s ruling on closing playgrounds during the state’s Stay-At-Home order. The updates guidance, states that playgrounds may remain open to facilitate physically distanced outdoor exercise. It remains to be seen what county officials will decide about whether the playgrounds in their counties can be open.

MCo 2 Pop-Up Test Sites 12-10-20 09:52 S.S.

A pop-up Covid-19 testing site is scheduled to be open this afternoon (from 2 to 6 p.m.) at the Marina Library. A second site is slated to be open next tuesday and Wednesday at Hartnell’s Stem Research Center on Central Avenue in Salinas. The testing next Tuesday is slated to take place between 7:30 and 11:30 a.m., and the testing next Wednesday is expected to be conducted between 2 and 6 p.m.

Outbreak In Aptos 12-09-20 07:30 S.S.

An  outbreak  of  Covid-19  has  been  reported  at  Aegis  Assisted  Living  Of  Aptos.     As  of  yesterday,   Aegis  was  the  only  residential  care  facility  with  an  outbreak  in  Santa  Cruz  county,  although  there  are  3  skilled  nursing  facilities  in  the  county  with  active  cases  outbreaks  of Covid-19.   Out  of  the  47  reported  coronavirus-related  deaths  in  Santa  Cruz  county,  at  least 30  of  the  deceased  had  been  residents  of  aggregate  living  facilities.  Countywide  there  are  nearly  1300  active  cases  of  the  virus  among  the  general  population.
