CA Wants to Vax 1 million Over Next 10 Days 01-07-21 17:23 DC

The State of California wants to administer COVID-19 vaccines to 1 million more people over the next 10 days.

Acting state health officer Dr. Erica Pan said “I think we are clearly recognizing that we need to accelerate our administration of vaccines in California and nationwide,”

Pan’s update at the start of a virtual meeting of a state panel tasked with planning the rollout of COVID-19 vaccines came just before the state reported 530,376 vaccine doses had been administered in California, as of Wednesday.

More than 2 million doses have now been delivered to local health departments and health care systems, the CDPH also said.

Seaside Increase in Vehicle Burglaries 01-07-21 17:10 DC

The Seaside Police Department says it has seen more vehicle burglaries and thefts from vehicles. Seaside officials warn residents that the crimes can occur at all times of day and night.

In an effort to combat the thefts, Seaside officers suggest the following actions:

  • Lock your vehicles
  • Park in well-lit areas
  • Leave exterior lights on
  • Remove valuables
  • Unload any valuable tools from your vehicle
  • Park in the garage or driveway 

If you see suspicious activity, report it immediately to the police.

Cal Rodeo Salinas Postponed Until Sept 01-07-21 16:15 DC

The California Rodeo Salinas has been postponed until September 2021 because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The rodeo made the announcement this (Thursday) morning, saying their executive board voted to postpone the 11th rodeo. The event, which was originally scheduled for July 15-18, will be held Sept. 23-26.

Aloha Coffee Closed by TRO 01-07-21 15:42 DC

The Monterey County District Attorney said it has issued a temporary restraining order against Aloha Coffee and Cafe in Monterey, forcing the restaurant to close.

The DA's Office issued the order after repeated face-covering violations. Under that order, the business is required to close until it can get a valid food service permit and comply with public health orders.

Aloha Coffee's foodservice permit was revoked after the business violated face-covering orders for several months.

BC Butane Honey Oil Lab 01-07-21 11:12 S.S.

2  people  have  been  arrested,  and  a  butane  honey  oil  lab  has  been  dismantled.     The  lab  was  discovered  on  the  600  block  of  Hartman  Creek  Road  in  rural  Boulder  Creek....when  Santa  Cruz  County  Sheriff’s  deputies  were  investigating  an  un-licensed  indoor  marijuana  grow.      More  than  1700  pounds  of  marijuana  plants  were  found,  along  with  136  pounds  of  hash  oil.     

 

34  year-old  Christopher  Akers,  and  43  year-old  Michael  Akers,  were  arrested  there  and  booked  into  Santa  Cruz  County  Jail.
