Even though the 1,050-acre Colorado Fire is considered 20% contained, Evacuation Orders are still in place for all areas West of 3800 Palo Colorado Road to Highway 1 and south to Bixby Creek. The wildfire broke out Friday night (February 21, 2022) on Palo Colorado Road, and officials have closed the portion of Highway 1 to travelers between Andrew Molera State Park (south of Big Sur) and Rio Road (in Carmel). An Evacuation Center has been set up at Carmel Middle School which is located at 4380 Carmel Valley Road.
