La Gloria Elem Sees Sharp Pandemic Decline in Students 10-27-20 15:41 DC

KION Television reports that La Gloria Elementary School in Gonzales has seen a sharp decline in enrollment since the start of the pandemic.

In a letter to parents, Principal Mark Demrick said the school will move several teachers around and create new classrooms to balance out grade levels.

Gonzales Unified School District Superintendent Yvette Irving told KION that the district has lost a few dozen Kindergarten students than what they’ve seen in previous years.

The district is currently doing distance learning for students, except for a small number of students that come to campus for child care and help with learning challenges.
