After a four-week closure for the Dolan Fire, Highway 1 through Big Sur has reopened. The reopening is good news for businesses that saw a drop in visitors during the closing.
Locals say that the combination of the Highway reopening and the reopening of state parks in the area should help business pick back up.
OPEN: California State Parks has reopened Point Lobos State Natural Reserve, Andrew Molera State Park, and Garapata State Park and Beach.
CLOSED: Little John State Natural Reserve, Point Sur State Historic Park, Pfeiffer Big Sur, Julia Pfeiffer Burns, Limekiln state parks remain closed.
