Landslide Danger in Mountain Regions 09-16-20 15:50 DC

The CZU Lightning Complex fire has burned across hundreds of homes in the Santa Cruz Mountains.

The Santa Cruz County Board of Supervisors approved several changes Tuesday to make it easier for survivors to begin the rebuilding process, including allowing people to live on their properties once the area has been cleared of hazardous waste.

Landsides remain a big concern in the area. And it isn’t clear how much danger returning residents should or will be exposed to.

County spokesman Jason Hoppin said residents will be allowed back to their comes in coming weeks once hazardous materials are removed. However, for some danger will remain from landside issues resulting from the fire. Please be careful.
