UPDATE: CZU August Lightning Complex 09-15-20 05:35 S.S.

Firefighters  have  now  contained  91  percent  of  the  CZU  August  Lightning  Complex  Fire  burning  in  Santa  Cruz  and  San Mateo  counties.   Although  many  people  have  been  able  to return home,  some  have  no  home  to  return  to,  and  evacuation orders and  warnings  are  still  in  place  for  some  areas.   Evacuation  orders  are  still  in  effect  in:

EVACUATION ORDERS FOR SAN MATEO COUNTY:

  Butano Community area (Zone: SMC-E098B)

  Butano State Park including Barranca Knolls Community (Zone: SMC-E019)

  Western areas of San Mateo County (SMC-E38C)

EVACUATION ORDERS FOR SANTA CRUZ COUNTY:

  Chalk Mountain (Zone: CRZ-E001)

  Waddel Creek, Swanton, Last Chance Road, Molina Creek (Zones: CRZ-E002B, CRZ-E003B, CRZ-E010C)

There  are  no  shelters  that  remain  open  in  san  mateo  county,  and  only  the  Santa  Cruz  County  Fairgrounds  in  Watsonville  is  still  open  for  evacuees  from  santa  cruz  county.  A  resource  center  has  been  established  in  the  Kaiser  Permanente  Arena  in  Santa  Cruz,  at  140  Front  Street.

 

There  are still road closures  in  both  San  Mateo  and  Santa  Cruz  counties.  In  San  Mateo  county  they  are: 

  Canyon Road at Cloverdale Road

  Gazos Creek at Cloverdale Road

and  in  Santa  Cruz  county  they  are: 

  Swanton Road entirely at State Route 1, includes Last Chance Road

  Upper SR-236 at Waterman Gap Loop

  Lower State Route 236 at Midway Ranch Road

  China Grade Road at Mile Post Marker 1.71
