SC Water spending $80 Million on aging dam 02-14-20 03:07 DC

The City of Santa Cruz is seeking bids on replacement of the inlet/outlet works at the Newell Creek Dam in the San Lorenzo Valley. The $80 million dollar project will be the city’s most expensive water project to date but larger projects are likely ahead in the future.

City Water Director Rosemary Menard told ksco that officials had hoped to repair the nearly 60-year-old structure but that proved impossible.
