A Placerville man spent 14 years in jail for a murder that DNA evidence now shows he did not commit. Ricky Davis was convicted in 2005 for the 1985 murder of his roommate, 54-year-old Jane Hylton.
Davis was exonerated today (Thursday) after prosecutors found new DNA evidence that led to a new suspect. He was expected to be released late this afternoon.
Genetic genealogy technology helped investigators determine the DNA they found belongs to a teenage boy Hylton’s daughter testified she was with the night of the murder.
