Redwood Preservation 1/31/20 5a Ci

The non-profit group “Save the Redwoods League” sealed a deal to buy 564 acres of pristine redwood forest and other property near the San Mateo Santa Cruz county line for nine million dollars.

The “Cascade Creek” property has more than 100 acres of old growth redwoods including a redwood tree believed to be 528 years old and a 50-foot high waterfall. It’s located just east of highway one between half moon bay and Santa Cruz.

Cascade creek links two of the region’s most prized public parks: Big Basin and Ano Nuevo. The Holmes family of Danville  are the owners of the property since 1978.
