Update: Arrest in “Projectile Alley” Vehicle Attacks 01-23-20 14:56 DC

A 52-year-old man has been jailed in connection with a series of projectile attacks on vehicles driving in the Prunedale Area.

At a news conference earlier this afternoon, CHP Commander L.D. Maples announced the arrest of 52-year-old Charles Lafferty, who yesterday was booked into the Monterey County jail. He is being held on a $250,000 bond.

After the last attack on January 5th, investigators identified a pick-up truck as a suspect vehicle and later identified Lafferty as the driver of the vehicle. He is alleged to have used a slingshot and glass marbles to carry out his attacks.

There were a total of 69 attacks since February 19th of last year.  Five people were injured slightly in the assaults, including one child.

CHP says Lafferty is believed to have worked alone. He is being held on 21 charges related to the incidents and may face more charges as the investigation continues.
