Can Imjin Parkway be made safer for pedestrians using wheelchairs to cross? That is the question officials in Marina are asking after a wheelchair-bound man was killed Tuesday when he was struck by a car while crossing the street.
The man identified as 76-year-old Virl Grier of Marina was struck while crossing Imjin near Third Street after a physical therapy appointment. Marina Mayor Bruce Delgado has asked the city’s public works department to look into solutions to the safety issue. Flashing warning lights are seen as a possible solution.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation.
