Help find hawk stuck to mouse trap 01-15-20 03:05 DC

Rescuers say a hawk seen in Santa Cruz with a glue trap for mice stuck to its body is in danger this morning. The red-shouldered hawk was seen Tuesday morning near Fern Street in Santa Cruz.

Rebecca Dmytryk (Da-MIT-TRIK) of Wildlife  Emergency Services said that although the bird can fly it is in danger of becoming entangled or losing its ability to thermo-regulate.

If not captured, the hawk could die as soon as today.

Dmytryk said the bird is likely still near Fern Street in Santa Cruz where it was spotted Tuesday.

If you see the hawk, please report it to rebecca@wildlifeservices.org with the time and exact location where it was seen. That email address is also posted at KSCO.com/news.
