A proposed assessment in Santa Cruz County Service Area 48 to increase fire protection services has been approved by voters, 56.29 percent to 43.71 percent according to preliminary results.
Conducted by mail ballot, the weighted vote will increase County Fire services such as fire protection and emergency medical response in certain unincorporated areas, including Bonny Doon, Davenport, Loma Prieta, Corralitos, Las Cumbres and the wider South Skyline area.
