SC Mountain Lions/Mercury-12/1/19-1326-PMD

A study is linking fog to elevated mercury levels in mountain lions. The study, published at UCSC last week found elevated mercury levels in 94 mountain lions tested in the Santa Cruz Mountains. The mercury is believed to well up from the deep ocean and is transferred to the mountain lion populations from fog. 6 of the Pumas tested were approaching toxic levels.
