Yesterday the Santa Cruz City Council approved a motion to quote “put on hold the decision to proceed with a Downtown Library project and to convene a Council Subcommittee composed of Council members Cummings, Meyers, and Brown to investigate alternatives, in collaboration with Library staff and the interested community, and return with a recommendation no later than October 2019.”
The decision to replace the current library with a new dual-use library and parking structure was made by the previous council. This motion brings the controversy to the new council for consideration.
