The Santa Cruz County unemployment rate rose to 6.9% in March. The cause is the arts, entertainment and recreation sector has 100 fewer jobs compared to March 2018.
The Employment Development Department released employment data for March last Friday.
EDD says that Santa Cruz County’s jobless rate is up from 6.6% March 2018. The unemployment rate statewide for March is 4.6%.
Arts, entertainment and recreation positions fell from 2,500 jobs March 2018 to 2,400 employees last month. In March 2017, EDD says there were 2,300 jobs positions in the category.
