Workers at the aquarium of the pacific in long beach are mourning the loss of Charlie today.
Charlie is said to be the oldest living southern sea otter. He passed away yesterday, earth day at the age of 22. Most otters live 10 to 14 years.
Charlie was well known to Santa Cruz researchers where he participated in a study at UCSC on how otters perceive sound.
