Members of the Santa Cruz City Council are considering using the process of Eminent Domain, so that a planned Highway Interchange Road Widening Project can be completed. They say that there are 2 properties integral to the project (at the intersection of Highways 1 and 9), and that they are owned by the owners of Central Home Supply. City negotiators have been waiting for those owners to make a counter offer, since they formally proposing a $1.7 million sale price last summer. At least 5, of the Santa Cruz City Council’s 7 members, would need to approve the action for it to move forward. This is on the agenda for this Tuesday’s meeting.
