The prep-work for Campus Town (in Seaside) is continuing. About 21 buildings are being demolished to make way for the construction of the 85-acre development. It’s designed to include nearly 1500 housing units, 250 hotel rooms, 75 youth hostel rooms, 150,000- square feet of retail and restaurant space, as well as 50,000 square feet of office space. Both the Fort Ord Reuse Authority (tasked with re-moving the buildings), and the City Of Seaside (who is waiting to construct the new buildings), have run into some setbacks in the process.
