A developer would like to transform dozens of commercial offices, into more than 400 apartments along Garden Road near the Monterey Airport. To that end, the developer is slated to bring a Re-Zoning Application to the Monterey Planning Commission on April 23rd, and to the members of the Monterey City Council on May 21st. It’s unclear at this time, how much of the re-development (if it’s approved) would be in affordable housing, however, there is a Monterey ordinance that states that 20 percent of units in a development must be within the definitions of affordable housing.
