SF Transit Ctr. 3/15/19 Ci

In regional news…. The 2.2 billion dollar transit center in San Francisco is apparently lacking in construction  quality control.

The terminal for buses and  eventually, bart, sf muni, caltrain and one day high speed rail…  closed last September after just six weeks of opening because of cracked steel beams.

Building inspectors found construction was not up to code and  the American made steel in the beams is found to be of poor quality. While repairs are underway… and expected to be finished by june, the transit center won’t open until an independent panel can determine if the entire building is safe.

Meanwhile bus riders will continue using the temporary bus depot nearby.
