Santa Cruz city council members have agreed to the ‘conditional closure’ of the homeless encampment behind the Ross store (off of River Street). The closure would take place by April 17th ….but only if the Salvation Army can re-open the 60-tent homeless camp at 1220 River Street….which was shuttered by the city in November. City Council members are also considering a 50-space pilot program ‘transitional encampment’.
