DLI Dog Mascot Retires 12-06-18 18:10 DC

Specialist Lingo, the four-legged mascot of the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center In Monterey retired on Thursday.

Officials said Lingo has become the most popular soldier on campus during his time at the center. They say entire walls are covered by his portraits.

A ceremony was held Thursday where the Commandant thanked Lingo for his three years of service and wished him well on his next mission.

D-L-I says that Lingo's handler, Michael Bugary is adopting the dog and plans to train him as service animal.
