1 man died, and another was arrested, as the result of a 3-vehicle crash on Highway 1 in Marina last night. The 5:30 p.m. fatal accident occurred under the 8th Street over-crossing, when a 25 year-old Pacific Grove man didn’t stop his pick-up truck quickly enough in slow traffic, and it hit the vehicle in front of him (hard enough to send that vehicle into a 3rd vehicle). The middle vehicle caught fire, and although other motorists stopped to try and extricate the driver, that person was declared dead at the scene.
The 25 year-old pick-up truck driver, Stewart Maxwell Napier was arrested on suspicion of D.U.I., and now faces a charge of Vehicular Manslaughter. He was booked into Monterey County Jail.
